Choosing the Right Bike for You

Popular methods of transport have altered in recent times. More and more people are leaving the car behind in favor of the bicycle, in the west the car reigned supreme but we are now seeing a growth in popularity of the bike. Perhaps the trend can be put down to 'green' thinking, or maybe just the prices of gas are starting to get to people. Either way there are now more bikes on the road then ever before. Maybe you have considered buying a bike? If you have been thinking about using a bike as your main mode of transportation, or just thinking about getting one for fun, there are a few things you need to think about.

Fashion really does get involved when you make a choice. Our preferences are reflected in color and style choices. When choosing your bike you shouldn't ignore them. Unless you are just buying a bike for the sheer look of it, style and fashion options shouldn't be the ultimate priorities. You really need to look at safety and comfort issues before any others. After finding bikes that are both safe and comfy, then you can see which ones look the best to you. Believe it or not, your bicycle seat should not sit at its lowest setting, resting against the crossbar. You want to adjust it up a few inches and take those inches into account when you are choosing your bike. Adjusting your seat up a few inches will give you more clearance between you and the crossbar of your bicycle, which can add quite a bit of comfort to your ride. You want to be able to sit on the bike and place your foot on the pedal at the lowest position, and almost be able to fully extend your leg.

Just exactly how many gears do you think you’ll use? If you are going to be travelling in relatively flat places, i loved this you will not need as many gears as you would need in rockier terrain or a terrain with lots of hills. You can’t evaluate the bike only by the number of gears it has. The truth is that you might not need all of those different gears. Don't waste your money on something you won't use. Find out where you’ll ride your bike, especially if this is your main vehicle, and make sure you have enough gears to handle the areas through which you will travel.

Your main priority is the physical fit of your bike. Selecting a bike with a good fit for you is of the utmost importance, when using a bike as the main way to get from A to B. Comfort and safety are both very important.
